Fall BBQ & Space Improvement

This past Saturday we held our Fall BBQ / space-improvement day at the space.

A few of the things we tackled were: organizing and assessing accumulated electronics and computer equipment, affixing whiteboards into 4 of the panels on the mainroom bay door, insulating the woodshop bay door, installing peg board and clamp rack in the woodshop, and mending the sewing shelf.

We’re Moving!

Howdy Hackers,

This weekend we’re moving shop to our new location, which is about a mile closer to downtown Boulder from where we are currently. If you want to join in the moving fun, we’ll be starting around 10 am on Saturday.

Our next official weekly Tuesday meeting – August 2 – is up in the air at this point since we may not be moved in enough to have a meeting at our new place. Check back on our website and/or the Google Group when we get closer for where we’ll meet on August 2.

New address: 5311 Western Ave, Suite 115, Boulder CO, 80301. Our entrance is on the west side of the building.

Special thanks to Lee for taking the lead on finding us this great new space!

First Meeting a Success

Our first meeting at the space was a success. We consumed mass quantities of pizza and discussed our plans for the near future. Dan Z. donated a desktop computer system and we now have enough paying members to tackle the rent. Next up we will try to get a solution for internet access in the space and will be exploring RFID technology for security. A wiki site is in the works for us to use in collaborating on interest groups as well as establishing a list of “things we need” to get our brains and hands working on even more exciting projects. Can we get a quad copter? We certainly have high enough ceilings to fly it. There’s also talk of building a loft. Finally, we’re planning to pull together a kickstarter video.. A whole lot going on. If you’re not yet a member, now is the time to get involved!
