Saturday the 14th

Rain didn’t keep us from having a great time at the space this past Saturday. We still barbecued, built stuff, collaborated, got creative, had a lot of fun! Photos from Dan D-B.

We now have a bank account

Solid State Depot now has a bank account with Elevations credit union. Although we do not have our 501(c)3 paperwork in order to open a fee free account, we have a business account under the SSD name. This should enable us to better manage our funds as well as meet the requirements of SparkFun in order to get discounted big order pricing. Thank you John E., Dan Z., and Dan D. For taking time out of their busy days to set this up! Go hackerspace go! Membership dues checks can now be made out to Solid State Depot.

First Meeting a Success

Our first meeting at the space was a success. We consumed mass quantities of pizza and discussed our plans for the near future. Dan Z. donated a desktop computer system and we now have enough paying members to tackle the rent. Next up we will try to get a solution for internet access in the space and will be exploring RFID technology for security. A wiki site is in the works for us to use in collaborating on interest groups as well as establishing a list of “things we need” to get our brains and hands working on even more exciting projects. Can we get a quad copter? We certainly have high enough ceilings to fly it. There’s also talk of building a loft. Finally, we’re planning to pull together a kickstarter video.. A whole lot going on. If you’re not yet a member, now is the time to get involved!

Our First Space!

We had a look at a potential space last Friday, and it looks like we finally have the green light on a starter space! We will be meeting there for the first time this Tuesday (11/2). This also means membership dues begin. Please be prepared to bring your $50 monthly membership dues this week. The space has plenty of room to set up tables and workbenches, but we’ll hold off on bringing too much equipment until we’ve met at the space for the first time. Be sure to thank John English and Kurt (our new landlord) for their help and patience. We’ll have pictures posted soon. So, our next meeting will be

Tuesday, November 2nd, 7:30pm
Kurt’s Antique Restoration
2200 Central Ave, Suite G,
Boulder, CO 80304

See you all there!
